Mavi Graves: Music

The Star-studded garment

(Mavi Graves)
Gone is day, when the streets
had cars and the skies had planes.
Here to stay, is a landscape that's
as dark as night. A sparse smattering
of city lights and bonfires burning high
to help strangers find their way.

Gone is the day of a close-knit network
of renegades. Here to stay is a star-studded
garment and the orders I must obey.

I'm content to wear the star-studded garment.
I'll man my post every night and every day.
I'll keep the antenna free of sand 'till I receive
your communicae.

Gone is the day when you hung on to every
word I say. Here to stay is a frightful fortitude
to accept my fate, an overwhelming willingness
to sit and wait, to man this ship of solitude
on an ocean of radio waves.

But I'm content to wear the star-studded garment.
I'll man my post every night and every day.
I'll keep the antenna free of sand, 'till I receive
your communicae.
